Sharjah Art Museum

Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival

One of the Emirate’s top events, the 22nd Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival is well under way and runs until 21 January at five venues including Sharjah... Art Museum, Al Majaz Waterfront and Maraya Arts Centre. Organised by Sharjah Department of Culture, there are more than 250 activities on offer, and 50 exhibitions, presenting the works of local, regional and international artists. Among those exhibiting this year are Britain’s Sinta Tantra, Egypt’s Ahmed Karaly, China’s Li Hongbo and Syrian exile artist Mohamad Hafez.

Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Sharjah

Mohammad Assaf - Omar Abdallat in Concert

The Arab Idol winner and the Jordanian singer-songwriter are teaming up for this one off show at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, where tickets start from... AED100. You can expect a mixture of Assaf’s own songs and traditional Palestinian folk renditions, while Abdallat will provide a selection of the greatest hits of his 30-year musical career.

Sharjah Sports Council and Al Shaab Village have teamed up once again for the University City Run Series, which is taking place at the end of... January. The organisers are encouraging runners of all ages and abilities to enter either the 2.5km, 5km or 10km events. Prices for registration start from AED40, and include a medal, certificate, refreshments and photos. You can register here.
