5 things you didn’t know about Aljada

07 December 2021

It’s time for some insight into Sharjah’s latest holistic destination, where lifestyle, work, entertainment, recreation, wellness, shopping and culture blend together into a seamless community. Spanning over 2.2 million square metres, the masterplan derives inspiration from Sharjah’s oldest heritage districts, paying respect to the past while creating a path to the future.

Here’s a few things you might not know about Aljada:

It has world-class educational opportunities for children

There’s plenty of opportunities to enroll your child into some of the best educational institutions in Sharjah – no matter their age or grade level. SABIS International School-Aljada opened its doors in September 2021; it’s the second SABIS Network school in Sharjah, and the fifteenth in the UAE. Aljada is also located right next to Sharjah’s prestigious University City – the region’s heart of learning.

Business fuels its rapid development

Launching sales in early 2022, Aljada’s Business Park is set to be the pulse of commercial activity in Sharjah’s economy as well as the economy of the UAE, with 500,000 square metres of space dedicated to multinationals, local giants, SMEs and startups. Aljada’s Business Park will also benefit from its prime location near Sharjah International Airport, as well as its adjoining SAIF Zone.

It is set to have an authentic cultural district

Sharjah is renowned for its cultural offerings in the region. Aljada will contribute meaningfully to the emirate’s status as the Cultural Capital of the Arab World (as recognised by UNESCO in 1998). Aljada’s Naseej District contains a makers’ neighbourhood that will offer incentivised opportunities to allow artisans, creatives, designers and artists to work in an inspiring community. In addition, the nearby Naseej District museum, designed by a world-famous architect, will be a new cultural landmark for Sharjah.

The future of student housing complexes is here

Furthering its commitment to students, Aljada will be home to Nest, the UAE’s premier integrated student housing complex. A 10-minute stroll from University City, Nest offers unrivalled facilities and amenities, all set within a smart technology-enabled space. It’s spread over 388,000 square feet and offers a selection of studios and differently-sized dormitories, along with laundry rooms, shared TV rooms and study areas. With 24-hour security, and access to male- and female-only swimming pools, gyms and study areas, safety and privacy remains a top priority.

The numbers speak for themselves

The first homes in the lifestyle destination were completed in January 2021 and upon completion are estimated to house over 70,000 in the community. In addition to numerous residential districts, Aljada will offer extensive retail, hospitality, entertainment, sporting, educational and healthcare components, all set within a green urban master plan. Family entertainment destination Madar at Aljada - designed by Zaha Hadid Architects - was the first part of the megaproject to be completed in February 2020 and has now welcomed well over two million visitors.
